The BRDC Classic at Silverstone is motorsport’s ultimate time machine. Organized by the British Racing Drivers’ Club, this premier historic festival brings the golden eras of racing back to life at the home of British motorsport. From screaming 1970s Formula 1 engines to legendary touring cars, the event blends high-octane nostalgia with fierce, wheel-to-wheel competition.
The inaugural BRDC Classic transformed Silverstone Circuit into a living, roaring museum of motorsport heritage from 24–26 July 2026. Organised in partnership with the prestigious British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC), this rebranded flagship event successfully captured the pure, unadulterated spirit of historic racing. Dropping the sprawling music-festival elements of previous iterations, the weekend returned the absolute focus to where it belongs: the engineering, the speed, and the raw competition of legendary machinery being pushed to the limit on a legendary track
GP Icons Debut: The newly launched GP Icons grid presented by Goodyear stole the show, bringing 16 iconic Formula 1 cars from the 1966–1985 3.0-litre era back to life. Lukas Halusa dominated the field, piloting his sleek Brabham BT49 to a brace of victories. He fought off intense, wheel-to-wheel pressure from Michael Lyons in a Hesketh 308E and Steve Hartley in a beautiful McLaren MP4/1
The Atmosphere: Thick with the scent of unburnt high-octane fuel and hot oil. The open-paddock policy meant fans could walk straight up to multi-million-pound racers, watch mechanics turn wrenches, and speak face-to-face with drivers.
The Lighting: Challenging British summer weather. Overnight rain left a slick, reflective surface for Sunday's early sessions, providing beautiful asphalt reflections, before breaking into bright, harsh sunshine that glinted off polished chrome and vintage bodywork.
Endurance Icons & Prototypes: Modern historic racing fans were treated to the sight of an Audi R8, a Bentley Speed 8, and a Cadillac Northstar LMP—making its competitive historic debut—wailing down the Hangar Straight in the new 2000s endurance category.
